Massive Flooding Japan, Tropical Storm Etau Torrential Rains

Oh yep that's flooding alright.....oh dear:(,.......but knowing how efficient and resilient the Japanese are they will have those homes rebuilt in next to no time ...let's hope no-one has come to serious harm!!
 
Flooding is very very serious -- just imagine your little cottage you worked so hard for slaving away at some menial job, just floating away. Bye bye home, bye bye possessions, clothes, photographs, computers, your whole life. Does insurance cover the damages of such an event, like an earthquake, forest fire or flood I wonder.
 

Yep parts of the UK suffer from serious severe flooding every year so much so they can't afford the sky high insurance premiums any more.

The absolute filth and that seeps into the house and destroys everything in it's wake, last for months destroying the very core of the house...and the smell of effluence and god alone knows what other nasties including vermin are in your home along with the filthy waters..

A horrible situation for anyone who suffers flooding.

Cookie, in the US there are no commercial insurance companies who sell insurance for flooding, at least the last I knew of, but people can buy this insurance from the federal government. Commercial insurance companies may administrate the flood insurance policy for the government.

People should really be aware that damage by flood is usually not covered by their insurance and seek the coverage from the government; so important!

As to the other catastrophes; fire and earthquake are usually covered as perils named on the policy.
 
I saw the video of the flooding going on on the news and it was awful! Poor people, it must have been so frightening to be caught in it! The filthy water was bubbling and boiling and surging and crashing against and taking down all kinds of things!
