Maui is on fire due to wildfires

I saw this on the news this morning. How frightening! Can you imagine having to run for your life, the jump in the water for safety?!! I'd be SOL, cause I can't swim. It's terrible that there were fatalities. It's also mind boggling how many people have found themselves suddenly homeless with all of these fires and natural disasters!

I can't even believe what I'm reading. Who would have thought in a tropical climate but I understand they have experience drought. There were people who had to go into a small lake during the Paradise, Ca Camp fire in the area of Concow. Also during the Berry Creek fire (another town in the general area of Ca) horses knew to go to a pond during a fire and were saved.

Very sad, I heard it on the radio news this morning,
they also reported that some people have died.

R.I.P.

So sad that the death toll is now more than six times what was originally reported! When I see all the devastation, I feel so bad for all the residents but I also think about the couples who were so happy to be buying homes there that I saw on shows like Hawaii Life, Beachfront Bargain Hunt and possibly House Hunters International.

My grand nephew and his sons lived in Hawaii for a few years and left a couple of years ago to move to California. I don't think they lived in Maui though...I'll have to ask my niece. A couple of GMA's newsmen were personally touched by this. Each of them loved the town that was destroyed. One correspondent was already there on vacation when the fires started and the other has family in Hawaii...he also loved that town.
