All I can say is that the CDC is constantly revising the stats down, then up, then down again. I flat out do not believe statistics anymore. I'm not saying it's not bad out there. I'm just saying I don't trust the numbers.

The link that I posted gives a very thorough explanation of how they compile their figures and they are a frequently cited source by government and news agencies. As I have mentioned elsewhere, I have validated their data for my state on several occasions and they have always been accurate.
