May Day: a global holiday

It's a holiday here..a long weekend.... May Day... the actual holiday is on the 4th which is Monday so schools and businesses will be closed, and stores will have Sunday opening

Then we have another one at the end of the month....

yes we certainly do...sadly most of their time is spent bringing the country to a halt with strikes...
Here’s something I just found out today.

On average, respondents thought that if the U.K. were a state, it would be the seventh-richest in terms of percapita GDP, behind the likes of New York and California. The reality is that Britain is toward the bottom of the table, roughly on the level of Mississippi.

No..I wish... I wish we were more like the USA in that respect....

When my DD was little she was a majorette and she was involved in lots of carnival parades... but we've really not had any in 30 years.... except the annual Huge Nottinghill carnival in London... but local towns, not any more sadly...
