Maybe I'm not as healthy as I thought

Went to dentist yesterday for an emergency extraction, that's a horse of a different color. You think you are in pretty good shape, until you start filling out the forms about your health history. The yes or no questions were extensive. It was 1 page long closely spaced & double columned. I knew they wanted an accurate account, questions about my shot history, childhood aliments & sexual conduct, WHAT?

Discussing that subject this morning with my wife, she who had been a receptionist at a dental office (greeted patients, filed insurance, forms,,,etc) explained that any dental work or shots they give are dangerous if you have certain health conditions, especially any heart conditions or treatments. I guess the form was setup to CTA in case of a problem, but my sexual related activity?

After the procedure the dentist gave me a prescription for 800 mg IB & one for antibiotics, never had that before, then realized being newly TYPE II, if I got infection it would be slow healing, guess it was a preventive thing.

Yeah, but your sexual history?? I guess they want to see if you're at risk for HIV, because they could contract it from a needle stick or something like that.

My MIL went to the dentist last year and her blood pressure was so low that they called an ambulance to whisk her to the ER. She was admitted to the hospital and was in kidney failure; remained in ICU for several days. If she hadn't gone to the dentist that day she might have died. So I'm glad the dentist offices are paying more attention to general health.
