I knew several people who did and I also did some volunteer work for them a time ago. Too bad their funding may take a big hit soon.
My Dad was blind, and for him Meals on Wheels was a Godsend. Too bad the funding will be cut- sucks to be needy, especially during the coming four years.

It's a wonderful program. Not only does the senior get a healthy, well prepared meal it is also a mini visit they look forward to. Added benefit, if the volunteer notices something wrong they can make a report and the family will be contacted.
afaik Meals on Wheels was never meant to be a federally funded program, and only receives about 3% of its funding from the Federal government. Something on the order of $250k.
