Medical Alert Scam

A good heads-up thanks SeaBreeze. Haven't heard of that one here yet but you can bet your best boots that someone will try it on.

I've had the opposite problem. Phoned 3 companies to get one and none of them phoned me back! Finally hunted one down and they sent me a fistful of forms to sign and return in the mail. They're still gathering dust. I'd better get a wriggle on and do them though.

My oldest daughter, who is equally cheap as me.. said why bother with Life Alert and other assorted alarm systems ... just carry your car key on you at all times. The red alarm button to set the car off is plenty LOUD .... especially late at night. Sitting in the garage it has a loud echo too.
I think she is right. The neighbors would hear and be around much sooner then whoever is on the other end of those expensive systems..

All the folks, including myself in my neighborhood ignore all car alarms. They go off way too often by careless owners, and for the most part people don't pay attention anymore. They were just talking about that on the radio. If I'm in a Walmart parking lot, and I hear an alarm go off anymore, I don't even bother to look in that direction.

I agree about alarms going off at store parking lots - no one pays attention, or maybe a busy neighborhood area.

But when you live in a quiet country dead-end street neighborhood, it is totally different. People hear and would be curious.

Soon as you push the number 2, $11 is automatically charged to your phone. Add up all those eleven dollars and somebody was raking in a bunch of money, yet $11 often went un-noticed by the senior because it was such a small amount.

No way ... I would definitely notice an extra charge for anything. .. :p

And yes, dialing 911 is quick! At least it's local .... and if you push a button on some alert system where is that help coming from? ... they probably contact local people anyway.
I don't own Lassie, who we all know would run for help, but I've got two very loud barkers around.

An older friend of mine said she fell in her house, and the only way she could bet back up was to roll until she made it to the couch, was able to life herself up from there. She said she would like a medical alert system, but she has very little money .
