Medicare Spam phone calls

Now that it is Medicare "enrollment" season, the number of Spam calls we are receiving has skyrocketed. The phone rings several times a day, the caller ID shows a number and name we don't recognize, so we usually just let it ring, and they never leave a message, If I call the number back, it almost always results in a recording saying the number is "not in service". Once in awhile I answer the call, and invariably the caller can barely speak English. I wonder how many Seniors are being scammed by these calls. It you Do answer one of these calls, Never say "YES" to anything they ask, as you are probably being recorded, and they can use your recorded voice to initiate their scam.

I get them constantly on my cell phone. I made the mistake of signing up for food on Facebook and gave them my number. Very stupid of me. They trick you that way. So I have been getting loads of unwanted calls. A lot of the time I block them.

I answer and know by their voice who it is and all the people in the background , sounds like a boiler room full of people saying same thing, I just (click)hangup and they rarely call back.

I never pick up, if I don't know who's calling. I use the message function on my phones. 99% of the time, they just hang up.
BTW, if you give your phone number to a charity, some will rat you out to a telemarketer for a few cents.

This yearly enrollment time can be annoying if you let it be .... I don't get the phone calls, but do receive plenty of snail mail from them.

I just rip up all health insurance offerings at the mailbox trash bin while I'm there.
The PO building at my apts. have two large trash bins - and they get filled everyday. LOL

We have been getting all of the medicare enrollment advertisements also, but not on the cell phone, just in the regular mail, plus ads on facebook.
Since I wanted to check out what other companies were offering for the extra benefits, I have actually been reading through the ads that they send me in the mail; but the Devoted one seemed like it was much better than even the Humana program we have had for several years now.
Because Devoted is new here in Alabama, I was concerned that it might not be a good company; but when we spoke with our insurance agent to see what he recommends, he said that Devoted was a 5-STAR company, and has done really well in other states, for both the doctors and the patients.

We have signed up with the Devoted plan, and I am looking forward to starting it in January. The OTC catalog has a LOT more products than our Humana one has, so we will definitely be using that benefit completely for vitamins and other OTC items.
It not only includes the Silver Sneakers benefit, but also $150 that I can use for any kind of fitness/exercise item.

I have an Apple Watch, but the fitness benefit can be used towards buying a fitness tracker, and they also offer a free pendant for emergencies for people who do not use a fitness tracker. It is one of those that if you fall or need help, you can push the button on the pendant and it calls 911 for you, and this would be great for older people who do not like newer tech like cell phones and Apple Watches.

Yes, I get 4 or 5 a day, I do not pick up either....I can usually can tell who it is, my phone has a different ring with spam or possible spam calls, blocking each one does nothing so I let them pile up a day or so and then delete all.
