Memphis Jogger Abducted

He was paroled after serving part of a previous sentence (as with most offenders). Of course he would do it again. As with child molesters, when they're released from prison, they learn they have a better chance of getting away with it if they kill their victim.
 
If only the mother of Cleotha Abston would have aborted her pregnancy, Eliza Fletcher would still be alive today.

Chances are, Cleotha was abused as a child and grew up in poverty, which made him mad at the world. We're going to see more and more cases like this now that abortion is outlawed in many states for poor women.

the fact is people should be able to jog or go for a walk whatever time of the day or night they want to.. statistics prove that you're more likely to be attacked in the middle of the night, so therefore not many people are out jogging at 4am...

That said..the last thing on earth we want to do is blame the victim.., her luck was out when this guy was obviously on the hunt for a victim and sadly she was it..

Damn shame. Women need to carry pepper spray or a taser if they’re in a vulnerable position, like jogging alone. A young woman in my town disappeared in broad daylight while jogging about 30 years ago, and it haunts this town to this day. It was a small town then. No body was ever found. Her name was Rachael.

I was watching a discussion about this case, and the American Legal team said similar.. and that they should also carry a Knife.. BUT.. before they or anyone carries a knife, they need to learn to use it, otherwise it would be used against them

Honestly this was a legal team discussing this on Court TV tonight

It is so sad that people would even have to consider arming themselves before they take an innocent walk or run.
 
From my seat here, I have a great view of the beach. There is a jogging/bike path that runs parallel to the shore. We have a problem with homeless in the area.
Many mornings (not at 4 am, though) I see lone females and I concern for them,
 
Its appalling when anyone is attacked in this manner. Here in England both women and men have been attacked and assaulted, some being taken, held somewhere and their bodies found later. Dreadful cases.

I was once accosted by a man I didn't know and had no wish to engage with. Those who know me well have said (kindly) that I can be very assertive when the need arises and they wish they could be the same. I thank God that He kept me from harm on that occasion and afterward I took some self defence classes offered by our local police force and will never forget the officer telling us to use any means necessary to prevent an attacker from getting you down onto the floor and that if you did manage to get away and run, you'd better run hard and fast and go hammer on someone's door if at all possible because the would-be assailant would be angry you got the better of him and would want to make you pay if caught, in addition to whatever he had in mind in the first place...

People should be able to go for a walk or a run at any time and not fear the worst but, sadly, the times we live in now make that impossible.

Interesting .gov website, but I am going to heed the wisdom of Radish Rose and bow out before I'm kicked out. One last remark -- in all fairness I should say that that the honor of being the brightest among us goes not to East Asians, but rather the Ashkenazi Jew. Must be the Gefilte Fish?

Reminds me of a guy I used to know. He owned expensive photography equipment & I suggested he at least hide it in the trunk when he parked. He told me people are basically good & I was "paranoid" & he wouldn't want to live like that.
A few months later, he lost a very expensive camera & lens. Also had to replace his car window.
