Merry Christmas to all my SF friends. You are all a great bunch of people. I really appreciate the support I have gotten this year from a roomful of virtual friends. I did not want to be so whiney, but all listened, and made a good effort to help me see the bright side of life.
My goal for 2023 is to become an even more active part of the community.

Have a great day...if you are with friends or family or both

Merry Christmas to you Marie, I hope that you can have a nice
day and that you are able to call your family who are elsewhere.

Mike.

@Marie5656 I talked to my brother yesterday. He lives in the UP of Michigan. Said he quit checking how much sNOw when it got to 20". After he'd spent four hours blowing sNOw, a kind neighbor was out plowing and came across the street and finished up for him. A couple hours later, the driveway ws filled up again! You aren't alone in being ready for the sNOw to stop; I think he's ready for the sNOw to stop, too.

Low temperatures and high wind for us for the past few days. The wind has settled down now, though. We'll be back in the 40's by mid week. Something to look forward to. :)

Merry Christmas Marie! I love reading your posts and never thought you were whiney. I look forward to hearing about your community activities as that is something I am working on also.
I don't think you're whiney either. Have a great day and blessed Christmas.

HI Marie, no way are you whiney, hope you had a nice Xmas considering the little snow event we experienced
The travel ban is still on here in Buffalo, we continue to get lake effect snow, the Buffalo airport got 43 inches{20 min south of where I live},will try to open tomorrow. On the bright side by Thurs it will feel like a 'heat wave' temps in the 40's Sue

Reading about all the snow that Buffalo is getting reminded me of while I was flying for Air Wisconsin. We actually flew under the name of “United Express.” I never flew in or out of Buffalo, but I did fly into other cities that also got a lot of snow like Cleveland. Pittsburgh, Detroit, Chicago and Green Bay. One early January day, like the fifth or sixth of the month, we were flying from Columbus into Chicago and then onto Green Bay and back to Columbus. Chicago and Green Bay were getting a lot of snow, but the airports were remaining open. I was assigned to fly with a very experienced Captain as the main pilot for all of our legs that day. He said at the beginning of the day before we left Columbus that he would be the pilot handling the departures, but he wanted me to be the pilot handling the arrivals so I would get experience landing in snow.

My arrival landing into O’Hare in Chicago was thrilling to say the least. As I remember it, the temperature was about 20 degrees, with wind out of the north at a steady 15 kts. gusting to 25 kts. Chicago was reporting light snow with our runway clear to a trace of snow. The Captain had given me excellent instructions for landing. Everything went well. I can also report that my landing in Green Bay, although we had a wet runway from the ice melt on the runway that was applied also went well.

It was three months later, I was recruited by United to come work for them. I absolutely accepted their offer. I believe my Captain had a lot to do with being recruited because he kept telling me that I was ready to fly the bigger jets.

With 56 years of winter driving behind me.......I am stoic about snow. Living in Canada it is not IF we will get snow, but how much, and for how long ? My Wife was born and grew up in The Bahamas. She came to New Brunswick to attend U of NB in January. A cultural and temperature shock. That was in 1962, she has adapted to living here over the years. JImB.
