Metformin could be the new miracle drug.

On the other hand,my BIL`s doc just took him off of Metformin as he had a painful "lump" in his side and his doc says he is seeing this in many of his patients-all of whom are on Metformin. I have been taking it for years without a problem so he gave me a big bottle of them...:)

I have pointed out on many of my 'health' posts about our acceptance or rejection of known folk or scientific remedies & how our individual bodies react. I found several foods that spike my BS that doesn't bother my other diabetic neighbors & relatives. The only side effect or reaction I have to metformin is a queasy stomach if I take it without food. Now I feel great, but with the weight loss, insulin, pills & home remedies I've encountered a new worry. Sustained low normal BS count. I'm getting high 80's to low 90's every 5 hours, even have eliminated the dreaded morning spike. Tomorrow I have my 4th colonoscopy (since my 50's, hope it's my last!) for that I'm on half insulin, no prescriptions and clear liquids until after the procedure. My BS count this morn was 87. I do have a good supply of 'Gatorade'.

On another issue, when I had my follow up visit after my bout with high BS, the doctor had them do a complete CBC. Everything was good except my 'bad' cholesterol high normal and my triglycerides were a little higher than normal. I remember my wife's niece who is a lab technician at a large hospital insisting that you get a false reading if you haven't fasted for 12 hours prior to the test. The morning of the doctor's visit I had a large bowl of what I call 'magic mush' (oatmeal, rolled and steel cut, almond butter, flaxseed, quinoa, cinnamon and local honey) just 2 hours before the test. No instructions to fast and his follow up letter said that my T&C's were high. Was that a misque on his part?
