Midnight Snack ??

I seldom eat anything past about 10P.M. but was hungry tonight @12:30A.M.
2 Cherry Tomatoes (1in size) fresh off the tomato plant
7 Colossal Jumbo Shrimp simmered 3 minutes, little salt, pepper and lemon juice
Man that went down quick, was really good. No fuss at all.
Will definitely do again one of these nights. Think I'll sleep better now too. Bonus

That was no snack...that was a meal ! Coincidentally I was having cherry tomatoes in broccoli salad around the same time you had your meal. My sleep-wake schedule is so screwed up therefore so are my meal times. The salad was supposed to be dinner, but wound up being breakfast, I guess. I love quick, easy meals and snacks too.

There's nothing wrong with having a little snack before going to sleep. Yeah, yeah, I know, you're not supposed to eat anything late in the evening, but I've never subscribed to that. I eat when I'm hungry. So there. 😊 A long time ago I discovered there are two things that'll keep waking me up preventing good nights sleep, if I'm too hot or too cold and if I'm hungry. I try to take care of those things before I hit the sheets, so I can have a relatively restful night.

Eating a late night snack isn't necessarily a bad thing. It depends on what you eat. Also, you might need a snack later in the evening if you ate an early dinner or a small dinner. Nat, you had a healthy nutritious “snack”. 🍅🍤 It's not like you were gobbling down a chocolate cake. Snacking on something with protein, fiber, or healthy fats is a good choice. A bit of cheese or peanut butter and a few whole grain crackers, maybe some yogurt with fruit, or some popcorn are also good late night snacks. I hate going to bed hungry.

I have peanut butter on crackers a lot too as a before bed as a snack. I can't help myself. I swear peanut butter helps me sleep better

I like this! Instead of lying in the dark with "Oh, It's dark and I'm so hungry, poor me!"
you got up and turned on the light!

I've never in my life gotten out of bed to eat a snack, or woke up middle of the night being hungry. Same with eating in bed before sleep, the thought of a bedtime snack has never crossed my mind.

People always facinate me with all their quirks and habits. Thank goodness I don't have any!

One question. Do you brush your teeth again?

Ahem , I don't consider it a "quirk" to eat a bed-time snack, especially if you need one, so you don't go to bed feeling hungry. FYI, I always brush my teeth before retiring for the night. Not that it's any of your beeswax. 🤪

I eat a fairly early dinner and *try* not to eat anything again until breakfast. Most days it works, but sometimes there's a bag of potato chips dancing around and making so much noise that I just have to open it and have some to keep it quiet. Uh... yep, we'll go with that. 🤭 Never "midnight snack" though... always before I go to bed. Last time I had to get up and eat something was after a 4-day stomach bug and I was finally feeling better... that was years ago.

Also, I didn't say anything about getting out of bed for a midnight snack LoL
It was only 12:30A.M. for pete sake. I'm often wide awake @ 2-3A.M. I usually arise 9-10 in the morning.
Not insomnia, just my natural clock I guess. I fall into a more "normal" routine when needed or required.
OneEyedDiva called it a meal and maybe it was.
... and I brush after every meal ... or eating anything.

It is to my beeswax, I'm an advocate for proper dental hygiene! So stick that in your bee bonnet😝

Diabetic and need a light snack at bedtime of a carbohydrate with protein: Crackers & cheese; yogurt with fruit; 1/2 open face sandwich; leftovers from dinner or lunch; 1/2 granola bar.
