I bailed out of the Army in 1970. Never once was I asked about my service when interviewing for a job.. Never once was I asked to show my SS card during an interview. I would offer a guess none of my previous employers were contacted as well. Anyone have any comments on interviews they had in the past say 5-30 years?

I'm pretty sure I got my foot in the door of the Florida DOT because I was a Vietnam Veteran. The two guys that interviewed me were both retired Military and Vietnam Vets. I don't remember exactly since it was 1976 but I probably had to submit my DD214 to personnel. Not that that would have mattered. I'm sure either one of the retired military guys that interviewed me would have been able to spot a poser in no more than 5 minutes.

Come to think of it, the dude in charge of the personnel department at that time was also retired military.
