Mobile breaks 130-year-old all-time snow record as winter storm sweeps Alabama.

It’s a record-setting day for snow in Mobile. The city has broken its all-time record for snow as of Tuesday afternoon -- and it’s still snowing.
The National Weather Service in Mobile said that as of 4:15 p.m. 6.2 inches of snow had fallen at the office, and it was still snowing. That breaks the old all-time record of 6 inches from 1895.

Do be careful, Trade!

Thanks @RadishRose :)
Very little traffic today on this neighborhood street
Car drove by about 10min ago, at only maybe 15mph, with flashers on
Guess roads are bad all round already
Long as we don't lose power, it's all good.
Did grocery shopping yesterday and good for a couple of weeks.

There are absolutely zero snow accoutrements and resources for city services.
We don't get weather like this except maybe once a generation.

But Thursday and Friday are supposed to be up into the 40's so will "enjoy" while it lasts :)

... and into the night. Very VERY unusual for here in the Deep South
Like a regular blizzard out there. Well, for here anyway

@Naturally bless Mason’s senior ❤❤️. He does not look happy. Warm hugs to him 🌞🌞

I have a lot of sympathy for the folks in the deep south, even if you’re retired down there from further north. Y’all aren’t set up for this kind of weather - your road crews don’t have the equipment. Your power grid may or may not be able to tolerate the load that you’re putting on it from the extra heat you’re running in your homes. And that’s if you even have HVAC units. I am forum acquainted with some folks that don’t have HVAC units.

then there are the folks way up north who are dealing with 17 below zero weather and have to go outside and feed livestock, then go to a job. One girl was ecstatic that her Toyota fired right up.

my area of southern middle Tennessee has had about 100 hours of below freezing weather. This morning it was 8° with a feels like of 2°. I am from the north and was able to prepare in advance. My main worry has been if the waterlines are deep enough so as not to freeze with this extended below, freezing temperatures.

Prayers and warm thoughts to all of you in the deep south hopefully you come out of this without any damages of any sort.🙏🙏
