A mom with breast cancer hates pink or the anti breast cancer campaigns because they're not doing much for her now. She basically wants results and expressing some of her frustration with the amount of money involved.

I think it shows many of the problems and issues many charities or causes. Talk is cheap. Most charitable causes have merit but many fail to yield results and/or use all the money they're given efficiently or ethically. Ever since the United Way scandal in the 80s I think it was I've been very leery of most charities. I give to very very specific organizations only now, not one generic organization.
The most disgusting thing is that many pray on desperate or highly emotional/traumatized people. If one doesn't give they are frequently made to feel guilty. Or many donors make gratuitous donations to alleviate their own guilt. Should hear some of the telemarketing pitches I'm getting now including requests for caps for women on breast cancer chemotherapy who lost their hair.
Point being with many charities the people who actually need it wether it be the recipients/patients in this case or the front line worker/researchers wind up not getting all of the money if any at all.
This time of year unfortunately it pays to be cautious when it comes to charity. Don't get sucked up in the holiday spirit. Let your brain suck up factual information first then donate or decline.
Best Wishes To This Mom
