Another case of a millionaire sports team owner getting public charity. The NFL Oakland Raiders will move to Las Vegas after a new stadium in completed with $750 Million of funding coming from the tax payers. Supposedly it will come from a higher hotel tax.

The NFL should be funding this, not taxpayers. Sports teams are a dicey proposition in transient tourist areas. Hard to become invested in a team when one isn't there all the time and/or spent decades following another team. Tourist economies also tend to have a lower average wage which does not lead to disposable income and season ticket purchases.

The Sole Purpose of spectator sports, IMO, is to keep the people's minds off of things that Really Matter. The Romans had their Gladiators, and today we have the NFL, NBA, etc. These activities are nothing more than Entertainment, and should be supported ONLY by those who chose to Amuse themselves with these Games. After all, should the taxpayers be obligated to help finance a new Movie Theater? The primary beneficiaries of these sports leagues are a handful of ultra rich owners...who are Very Generous with their political campaign donations.
