More pension - more deducted

Pension amount went up $37.50, but at the same, $37.50 was added to my health insurance premium that's deducted. What valley girl math are they using? It's like those store coupons - you have to spend $40 to save 40¢.
While I was working whenever we got a pay raise the cost of our benefits would go up by the same amount. Amount of increase in disposable income: $0.

Yep, I got a notice my part D is almost doubling. That's going to eat up a lot of my SS COLA increase. I though part D was supposed to go down a little bit. When I google it it still looks like they are saying it should go down a little. Don't understand why mine would almost double. I'll have to call them.

With apparently a segment of "airheads" in Washington, calling for a government shutdown, good luck to those on welfare, Medicare, and other government funded benefits. All being done, not for some nationwide disaster, but for political posturing.

There's always a degree of BS from both sides and there probably always will be, but grand-standing on the backs of the most needy folks in our society, is unconscionable, IMHO

Fortunately, my wife and I won't feel the immediate effects but if prolonged will effect us and a great portion of our elder population.

While I agree with your comment, not only is their "posturing" going to be bad for "the needy", what they are doing is a slap in the face for those serving our country: our troops, border control employees and all government workers who have faithfully done their jobs. All of them have bills to pay. One woman had to fight back tears when being interviewed. And those of us on SS, needy or in good shape, will be impacted too. That they put their egos above the needs of the people who are depending on these funds is...you said it right...unconscionable! I'll add that it's disgraceful and disgusting.

@debodun, it's too bad your raise wound up not being a raise at all. We've seen this in the past with Social Security when Medicare premiums rose enough to eat up the COLAs.

be happy it’s a wash .

many workers are seeing big jumps in health insurance but no raises ..

the term living on a fixed income should really apply to many workers , not seniors who at least get yearly raises
