Two kids, ages 4 and 6, found in a wooden crate inside a cave. No water. No shoes. 4 year old had a cup of Ramen noodles that also had mud mixed in with it. Photos of the mother show she evidently had enough money to have her hair dyed purple, but left her kids in squalor.

OK, I'll have to admit that there were times I thought seriously about leaving mine somewhere in a crate in a mine......

I have known many older folks whose kids were well-raised, became responsible adults, but neglected their parents to an extent that it was egregious.

Thus, it remains clear to me, I erred not in avoiding fathering any. imp

Strange story. The mother obviously is mentally ill. So many kids have parents with some kind of mental illness putting the children at risk.

Reading further it appears the initial story was not accurate. That the children just played in the huge crate for 7 hours a day. While the mother worked in a truck repair business, located in the cave. That it was for their protection vs living in the crate. That they were barefoot and dirty and that the mother left them there while she went "someplace" with her boyfriend does not sound like acceptable parenting though.
