My wife and I watched this tonight and loved it! The characters are great. A well-written drama, but it's not overwrought. There's a decency within these rough characters that's very appealing and an ending that really satisfies. Highly recommended if you can find it. And you'll get to see a good part of the drive across Australia.

Last Cab to Darwin is a 2015 Australian film directed and produced by Jeremy Sims and based on the 2003 play of the same name by Reg Cribb. Michael Caton (as Rex) and Jacki Weaver (as Dr. Nicole Farmer) have starring roles.

[h=2]Synopsis[edit][/h]When Rex, a taxi driver in Broken Hill, New South Wales, is told he doesn't have long to live, he decides to pursue euthanasia at a clinic in Darwin, Northern Territory. Along the way, he experiences various encounters which encourage him to re-evaluate his life.

Sounds like something me and the wife would like. However, the last Australian movie we tried to watch, we couldn't understand the actors. Real heavy accent. I probably sound the same to them. No offense intended. Will look it up.
We watched with closed captioning due to my wife's hearing issues, but the accents weren't too bad for the main characters. The movie is really good.

Thanks to CC I have watched movies in Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Swahili, Arabic, Italian, Spanish,,,etc. We watched your recommendation when it was first available on Netflix, loved it, I find that most if not all Australian entries are entertaining & well acted. My wife has super hearing, I, the opposite end of the scale, so we turn it down for her & I get to read the captions. I get a better understanding of the movie reading the dialogue.

Thanks for this movie recommendation, I'll look for it...

I also use the cc, once in a while I'll get one that has no cc and can not watch.

I watch Genius this weekend, it is about Thomas Wolf.....a good movie.

I fully back Bob's recommendation, I loved this film. Michael Caton is a much loved and very talented actor. He is the quintessential Aussie bloke. You could walk into any pub in Australia and find someone just like him.
