This afternoon,my 'movie buddy',Alexei and I went to see,'The Post"
Its the behind the scenes story in 1971 of 1st woman newspaper publisher, at Washington POst Katherine Graham and her editor,Ben Bradlee trying to catch up with the NYTimes as they publish classified documents over U.S. involvement in Viet Nam. The NYT is stopped by then Atty General,JOhn Mitchell who got a federal injunction to stop publication after 3 days. The WSP gets these documents,the decision is whether they will publish them or not,what happens afterwards.
This was a terrific movie with Meryl Streep as Graham,Tom Hanks as Bradlee, Bruce Greenwood as Robert McNamara,Tracy Letts as Graham's lawyer,Bradley Whitford as an advisor. It was a history lesson for me because I was in my late teens when this all took place,don't remember much about it. I recommend the movie,it boggles my mind this is the 1st time Streep&Hanks have worked together on a movie. Sue
