Lawrence Tureaud, better known as Mr. T, was in true form as he waited outside a suburban Chicago courthouse to be called for jury duty.

I once received a letter to do jury duty and it was almost a surreally easy experience getting out of it. We happened to be having my brother in law and his wife coming for the first visit ever since my husband and I were married (15 years prior) and they were coming from clear across the country, at the same time as I might have to go and sit on some jury. So I called the number on the letter and explained the situation and then said to them, 'I don't mind sitting on a jury, it's my duty, but could they please take me off this list and put me on another one for a little later?' The person on the phone replied, 'no problem, don't worry about it, you're off the hook'........big long pause on my part because I was really confused now. So I asked him if he was going to put me on another list and he said no, but I didn't have to worry about this jury call and to just enjoy my time with family!

I couldn't believe it, I was totally amazed that this had happened. Very lucky that day....maybe I should have bought a lottery ticket that day.

Yes, several times, but NEVER gain if I can get out of it. If you're a defendant, remember you're gonna be judged by 12 (or fewer)

people were too dumb to get out of jury duty.

Hey, If the summons doesn't come by registered mail,,,,how are they gonna prove you ever got it. Otherwise, stick it in the round file.

Many choose to do it, however none are experienced enough to become corrupt. Most give it their honest effort. I have been called twice over the years, and like SB, I have never been selected.

I went once to a jury summons. I wasn't selected for a number of reasons. Actually it's easy to get out of it. But you have to show up. My doctor just gave me a permanent excuse from jury duty which I'll mail in this week.

I found the process a bit interesting the day I went. However I'm not capable of being on a jury.
