Murder/Mayhem/Hit & Run Every Day What's Going On?

My community hasn't made national news because the daily stabbings/shooting murders and hit and run fatalities only involve one person, but it is happening every day. Is it a disease? Is it infectious?

I can't ever recall a time in the past where there has been so much like this going on.

Yeah, an older woman died the other day here after a hit & run. Last year a van hit two people on a downtown sidewalk at lunch hour....one died instantly, the other lingered, had to have legs amputated, and died about a week later. They did find the driver, though.

Seems to me like a total disregard for the lives and property of others -- no empathy at all for others. No respect for authority, or consequences. No sense of personal responsibility for one's actions, and no boundaries. When I used to work in appeals, in transcripts I would very frequently see such exchanges as "Mr. Smith, why did you bludgeon/shoot/stab Mr. Jones to death?" "He gave my girlfriend a funny look." Or "He cut me off in traffic." Or "I didn't like him." Or "He knocked over my beer." And no sense of the inappropriateness of their response (killing) to someone giving a girlfriend a look they didn't like.
