My Colonoscopy update if anyone interested. No Sedation.

The procedure was completed without any Sedation.

Did I have or feel any jabs of pain/cramps? Yes, about three
different times, lasting about 30 seconds each time. They
were when the bends and curves of my colon, loops and
angulation was being entered with the scope. It was for
sure uncomfortable, but I toughed it out, and said at those
times, 'omg' when it hurt those several times. I had wonderful
nurses along the way of the procedure, that made such a positive
difference for me.

Would I do this without Sedation again ever? On the fence
about it, I might or might not, just glad it's DONE.

curious why you wouldn't get sedation. that is the best part of the procedure in my opinion.
My main reason was not being able to secure a reliable driver for both to and
from the procedure on the day, I had scheduled. SO, I decided to give No Sedation
a Go and try it out.

I have had prior Colonoscopies with Sedation, of just two in my life. That went fine
also.

That "reliable driver" crap is a pain. I hired a limo for a lot of $$$$$. The outpatient facility gave me all kinds of grief over that. What is the difference if a limo driver drives me home, or my nextdoor neighbor?
My doc had to give an order saying I could use a limo. And the thing is they really aren't worried about me, they are concerned about getting sued for discharging me while I'm impaired. When the "reliable driver" picks you up, they become legally "responsible" for your care, taking the facility off the hook. The limo company only contracts to drive you from X to Y, and are not legally responsible for your medical care.

Same challenges here Fuzzy. We cannot use taxi, Uber, as an opt for transport to and from the procedure. We have to hire a medical transport service ( that they will accept) they are expensive here. Like you hiring a limo and they still gave you grief.

Getting that friend or neighbor who is reliable and shows up on time to drive us, is what I did my two other Colonoscopies in the past 15 years. Or ones spouse/significant other to drive us, I’ve done that also.

And that is why I decided “ heck with it !” I’ll try NO sedation and drive my own self to and from.
