I'm fine now, I'm happy to say, but I spent Christmas in the hospital and this is how it all happened; I've been staying home and being careful throughout the past year, but I have gone out for groceries about once a week. On December 18, I was shopping for groceries when, it being a cold day, my glasses steamed up over my mask. I took them off, wiped them on my shirt, and put them back on using one finger to push my hair out of the way and touching my eyeball in the process. Uh oh.
About 36 hours later I noticed I had "pink eye," and that night I felt my temperature rising, by morning it was 103 and I called to schedule a test. Sure enough it was positive, so I went into isolation and my son and husband started quarantine. A few days later I was standing in the kitchen when I suddenly projectile vomited my orange juice across the room and fainted as my son lowered me to the floor. My son called 911 and told them his mother had Covid and was having a stroke. I don't know where he got the stroke part, but the nice EMS squad came and they told me that it was standard protocol to admit to hospital anyone over 55 with Covid who fainted.
In the hospital they gave me; shots of blood thinner, two IV bags of antibiotics, several bags of fluid, steroid shots, a few other drugs known to help with Covid. After two days they sent me home with the prescriptions and I then just pretty much slept for about a week.
I'm here to tell you, be careful, but if you do get it, try to get to the hospital for a few days. I'm not sure my body could have fought this off with just Tylenol and rest, all that intensive care at the hospital really put me ahead of the fight and I would want that for all of you.
Tell 'em you're having a stroke!
