My daughter came upon a fire today.

She was out doing inspections in a very rural part of our county and saw this. She saw a guy from the local well pump company running from his truck towards the house and he was on his phone calling 911. My daughter ran up to the house and pounded on the door but no response. She tried the door and it was unlocked. She ran through the house yelling but nobody was home-until she got to the master bedroom. There on the bed sat a huge Rottweiler, looking terrified. She called him to come but he wouldn`t move. The house was full of smoke. She then heard sirens and ran out front as a firefighter was running up. She told him there was a dog in the house but he just shrugged her off. Sure hope that doggie makes it...:(

Good for your daughter Mrs. R, hopefully one of the firefighters rescued the frightened dog, if they didn't that would be terrible.

Your daughter is very brave. I can see where an animal (or even a child) would be too terrified to move. Hope the dog was saved, poor thing.

Mrs. Robinson, Your daughter is a very brave lady with great concern over others to do what she did.

It's a wonder she wasn't hurt but I'm glad she wasn't. She deserves an extra dessert at dinnertime.

I`m glad she wasn`t either. She did say the dog gave her a scare-she didn`t know what he might do,what with having a stranger run in and being afraid with all the smoke. Poor guy-I sure hope they got him.

As for the extra dessert-my daughter had stomach surgery several years ago and can`t eat dessert at all. Gives her something called "dumping syndrome"-(not anything like it sounds lol,but very uncomfortable just the same). I`m sure she`ll settle for a second glass of wine though...:)

Good for her, & hope the dog was rescued!do you have a local news station or newspaper that might have reported on it?

I don`t know if they`re even bothering now. We had no fewer than 10 wildfires this weekend. It appears someone is setting them-there was some nut doing this last year as well.....

And yes,my daughter is brave but not even for going in to a house that is threatened by flames. She goes into these vacant houses every day and never knows what she`s going to find in them. I used to do it too but I was always more scared (and cautious) than her....

Haha-gotta love living in a small county! Daughter had to go over to the other side of the lake yesterday to return somrthing she bought at Walmart the day before. Walked in and some kid (19 or 20) says "Hey,you`re Mrs. Adams-you were in my house yesterday! She just looked at him but didn`t recognize him. He says "I`m Brad Bologna-I went to school with Adrian" (her son). Even I remembered the name because they played Little League together. Anyway, too funny but typical that she would have known them-although they don`t even live in our town anymore-they live clear on the other end of the county now,40 minutes away. He did say his Rottwieler is a sweetheart and never would have hurt her but that she was scared to death and shaking when they got home. You never know what a scared dog might do. I had thought the fire was just a grass fire but it had actually started in the laundry room and then gone outside and ignited the grass. They were very lucky that it was seen in time.

Hi you two,
I just wanted to ask !! did non of the fire fighters talk to your daughter afterwards ref what she did?
IE by going inside you can cause the fire to spread due to opening the doors, it was a brave thing she did "but if any fire fighters are on the forum how about your views for any future people who come across such a situation "what should they do? And what they shouldn't do???

Nice that she did that and survived BUT I would NOT run into a burning house.

She didn`t know it was the house that was burning. It looked like it was a grass fire that was just coming close to the house. But it had actually started in a laundry room and caught the grass on fire outside and circled around the back of the house. I don`t think she would have gone in if she knew it was actually the house that was on fire. Also, there were two cars in the driveway and she was afraid the people might be napping. I guess you just do what your mind tells you to do at the moment.

Yes, she was brave Mrs R.no doubt about that. where were the occupants of the house, if it was left unlocked, and with cars in the drive, did you discover?what a coincidence that she met the boy in the store as well, amazing.

My daughter is so intuitive it`s not even funny. She told me that day that she was sure the people hadn`t gone far-like to work or anything-cuz she didn`t think they would have left the dog loose in the house and the door unlocked. She said "They probably went to Walmart". So the next day, that`s where she sees the guy and he says "We were at Walmart!" We are always telling her (seriously) that she should be a private investigator....

Well good for your daughter! I can see why she went in the house. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut! And the glass of wine is better for her than the dessert anyway. :) So I'm guessing the dog got out OK? I love Rottweilers, we used to raise them.

I just noticed I commented on this July 2nd and you answered me. I'm sorry, I didn't even see that just now, nor remember posting on here. I tried to delete my first post but I didn't see how to do it. I have deleted posts in the past so I'll figure it out yet. :)
