Ronni, you will almost always get a lower reading on the second try -- you shouldn't even be doing a third reading in a row. Try to take it at the same time each day, not just after eating or drinking, not when you need to go to the bathroom, with feet on the floor, after a few slow deep breaths. I think about petting my cat.Omron BP monitor, for the arm not the wrist. I’m already noticing puzzling variations in the readings. I can take my BP three times in a row without changing positions or moving in any way other than my thumb pressing the button, and I’ll get three entirely different readings! The diastolic doesn’t vary much, just a couple points, but the systolic will show a difference of 30 points with three readings taken seconds apart!
I have a home machine and I can go from my lowest 135 reading to 180 on the same day. It depends on how relaxed I am, how much coffee I drank, if I'm sick, if I read something on the internet that made me mad. Last year, my doctor tried me on three different blood pressure medicines, they all gave me bad side effects and none of them lowered my blood pressure so doc and I are pretending the problem went
away.
I've taken a statin (Zocor) every night after dinner for about twenty years, so has my brother, my son, and most of the people I know.
I wouldn't worry about that.
My heart goes out to you with all this, you're such a happy person and you're not at all fat like me. It just isn't fair.
