My ex-husband suffered a stroke.

He suffered a stroke over the weekend, and is currently in the hospital, intubated and sedated while they work to stop the brain bleed. He’s had one unsuccessful procedure. They’re trying another as I type this. If that fails too they’ll have to do some brain surgery.

Though our 30+ year relationship was abusive and tumultuous, and he’s not particularly a nice man, he is the father of my amazing, wonderful children and I bear him no ill-will. The kids’ relationship with him is complicated. Distant, or none at all depending on the kid, but he’s their dad and this is impacting them to one degree or another.

I am sad at this turn of events so please join me in sending him healing vibes, good mojo, prayers, love and light, whatever your thing, that he makes it through and recovers quickly. 💙✨🙏

This is sad scary news. Whatever your previous relationship with him you share history. May he recover well…
Thanks for understanding this @Muskrat. No matter what, he is part of my life’s story and I wouldn’t be who I am today without that history, and my need to prevail and overcome. I am a happy, strong, confident woman as a result.

Took quite a few years and a lot of therapy to get here 😉 but nonetheless I made it!

Sorry to hear that Ronni. I wish him the best, sending him warm healing thoughts. Hugs to you dear lady, you have a big heart, much respect.

I hope he makes a full recovery. You are right when you say he is part of your life story-and,of course, the father of your children.

My BFF also had a stroke over the weekend.(Well,Friday actually) She is 62.She was at work at the time and knew something was wrong(couldn`t feel her coffee on her lips, right side felt numb.) But a stroke never entered her mind. So she drove herself to the hospital and luckily, they were able to give her meds to keep any damage from being done. Kept her overnight then let her go home.

It appears that the procedure he underwent was successful ( stent placed through groin to brain to cauterize? Snip? the bleed)

He’s still heavily sedated and still intubated. It’s very frustrating to not be able to get first hand info and ask all the questions that I want answers to, because the kids are wanting those answers!

Do any of you know anything about this? I’ll take anecdotal information at this point….at least it’s something!

So sorry to hear of your sad news. Wishing him all the best.

My husband's younger brother had the brain cauterization, he was in rehab for a month then PT for another six months at Stanford. Ten years on he able to care for himself but goes through some depression as he can't around like he did when he was younger.
I'm not sure this is what your ex had but see if it fits: https://www.healthline.com/health/endovascular-embolization#procedure
Peace and hugs to all.

@Happy Heart thank you. That sounds exactly like the procedure he had!
