I've been binge watching some of the Columbo episodes, and one of my favorites is "Etude in Black". Symphony conductor kills his mistress when she tries to force him to leave his wife.
I checked and John Cassavetes (personal friend of Peter Falk) died in 1989 at age 59. He was married to actress Gena Rowlands.
I liked all the the Columbo shows, but also on my favorites list:
"Swan Song" with Johnny Cash
"Make me a Perfect Murder" with Trish Van Devere (widow of George C. Scott)
"Death Lends a Hand" with Robert Culp
