My First Sale of the Year

Too late now but I would have given you $20

It's beautiful Deb.
Be careful what you say; she might very well have another matching one! 😁

Just my light-hearted silly fun, @debodun
Truly nothing else!

I am glad you had that interesting event in your day/week, and that good feeling, from your enjoyed activity!:)

I could have asked more and kept it a long time. Used items around here don't sell for very much. Besides, I have a lot of other lamps to sell that I've been trying to liquidate for years. I put a few out and people steal the turn knobs off of the sockets.

I just now am moving slowly through this thread, and I found this post of yours, Deb.

Seriously, it's a nice collection!🤩

#8 is my personal favorite.
Followed by #6 and #15

I have been trying to find a large lampshade and they are running around $80. For just the lampshade not the lamp. If I had a car I would have driven to your house to buy and pick it up before anyone else could get there.

Deb, why do you not ship? Too time consuming maybe?

I look at that lamp #17 and it looks like copper which is much sought after in cottage country, someone would like to have it but is not going to travel to get it.

I think the gold-looking parts are brass.

Shipping is a hassle. I'd have to make at 25 mile round trip to have it packaged for shipping, plus the added cost to the buyer would make it prohibitive, especially for heavy items. Then the buyer could say the item wasn't what was represented or say it was broken in shipment and demand a refund. I like people to see first-hand what they are buying, then no griping afterwards.

Today someone was coming to get this Dugan Glass swan bowl. I had it clearly priced at $20. When she did show up, she offered me $10. When I said it was $20, she checked the ad on her cell, then said she must have had it confused with another item on Marketplace. I said it was still $20. She said she only had $10 with her. I suggested she go to the ATM at the convenience store on the main street. That was an hour ago and she hasn't come back.

The swan bowls are selling on eBay in the $25-$30 range, so I didn't feel bad asking $20, and the buyer doesn't have to pay postage. I don't think she's coming back - it's been 6 hours now. I could have walked to the ATM and back 6 times by now.

Marketplace used to be a good site for selling, but lately it's been invaded by scammers asking for my phone number, or asking me to call a posted number and they have a blank FB profile. I always look at a profile of a potential buyer to see how close they live. I've received inquiries on items from people in NYC and even further away. How do you think they are going to "pick up in person" as I state in my ads?
