My husbands tooth

My husband woke up yesterday morning looking like a chipmunk who packed a seasons worth of nuts in his left cheek. Dentist got him in right away and he has an assessed tooth. What has happened is that since my husbands immune system is gone due to the chemo he’s on, the infection kicked in. Dentist said this problem would of happened down the road but due to no immune system to fight, happened overnight. Amazing what effect all this poison in his body is doing to him. After an rx for an antibiotic and pain meds (a bottle of opioids for 48 cents and a bottle on antibiotics for $4.80), he’s off to see an Endodontist on Tuesday, not covered by our insurance, $$$$$ for a little root canal. I was so surprised how cheap opioids are vs the antibiotic.

It's because they want everyone in the country to get hooked on opioids. Maybe we'll all die from them, but we'll be easier to control before we go to the great beyond.

Why did they opt to do a root canal on someone who is terminal and not an extraction? Isn't a root canal more painful and more expensive?

The drug companies have been flooding the market with opiods for the past several years, and doctors are prescribing them more often than common aspirin. This "glut" in opioids has led to the costs plummeting...and the availability has caused extreme addiction and soaring death rates from overdoses. The DEA recently passed regulations that are supposed to reduce the "legal" manufacturing of these drugs by 25%, but the illegal imports are soaring, so this opioid problem is only going to get worse.

I don’t know what’s up with the root canal. Perhaps it’s giving my husband ‘hope’. Perhaps it’s making $$ off of him. There’s so much I don’t understand anymore.

An abscessed tooth Can cause some serious health issues. Generally, such a tooth is not a major issue, and a root canal quickly resolves the issue. However, if your husband is already having issues with Chemo, the tooth probably became far worse than normal. These procedures are not cheap, and generally cost around $1000, but if it can save the tooth, and help avoid dentures, it is probably worth the cost.

I opt for the simple approach - pull the darn thing ! LOL

Of course , with his immune system, it might be the right decision. Toothaches are torture. I hope he gets some relief.
