Living alone, I just thought it was safer.

My old recliner was tired,
and my flexibility isn't what it used to be.
Getting in and out of it was becoming unsafe.

I had one for Mom.

I know there's a hidden signal in having a Lift Chair,
But it's time.

I'm looking forward to it

A bit different but we;re having one of those "lifts" on our outside back stairs/porch. Goes up on tracks and dumps you off on the porch. Our SIL, who owns the house, has already installed the needed electrical connection and the installer said it would be a 2 day job. My wife and I are 91 and 89 and there are 10 or 12 stairs to climb to get to the porch. We can still manage but it gets tougher by the day. :(

My Auntie Connie needed a Hoyer Lift at the end of her life.
It was the only way they could clean her, get her dressed and ready for the day.
I was there a time or two for the ordeal.
While it's great that the technology exists,
She was very embarrassed and I felt so bad for her.

You are a saint! And I do come in serious. May I ask what your MOS was or is this too personal?

Lol. I think you may have misconstrued my meaning when I said I was a veteran. I meant a veteran at using a hoyer. Been doing it for years with my SIL. I'm pretty good at it.

However, I am also an Army veteran. I was in the infantry, 11Charile. I was fortunate enough to also be assigned to mechanized infantry units, so I dropped all my mortar rounds from the back of an M113 Armored Personnel Carrier.
