I've been working on this area for 3 years. I had a beautiful bed of Hosta's that the deer devoured. I gave up and I'm slowly switching over to Lilly of the Valley plants. The deer hate them and they certainly are not as pretty has the Hosta's.
They are taking forever to fill in because I'm taking them from a bed that is in the hot sun and putting them under a tree. They aren't happy about the move but they are surviving.
What makes it harder are all the tree roots. I found this attachment that fits my sons old drill and it makes it easier although getting up and down to plant them is hard on the knees.
Little by little I'll get it done.
