The other day my mother in law fell backwards and hit her head. She was rushed to hospital. She didn’t know the date, or where she was. She didn’t know what happened to her . Nothing she said made any sense. She may have had a stroke. Anyway last night she died in hospital. The doctors think she had an aneurysm that bled out. Needless to say the family is devastated as am I.

We are travelling to my husbands parents house to help get rid of all the stuff so will be spending Christmas there. It’s an 8 hour boat trip.

My sister in law is flying out there tonight to stay with my father in law who is currently beside himself. The sister in law is going to wait until we arrive so we can stay with him for Christmas.

He wants to go into a nursing home so we are going to help him with that. All four of the siblings have offered to have him stay until a home is available. Even their cat is being re-homed by the sister in law. She has no pets right now. Life can sure change quickly.

Thank you all for your support

At least she passed quickly and probably painlessly. My condolences.

I'm so sorry about this, Patti. Saying a permanent goodbye to our parents and parents-in-law can be so difficult. It's true regardless of whether you were close.

Your help will be a blessing in sorting out the road ahead for your FIL, and also figuring out what will happen with her/their possessions if he moves to a much smaller space.

I’ve known my mother and father in law for 35 years now. That’s a fair amount of time. We were fairly close. I loved her.
