My new kitchen toy

Today we took delivery of my new kitchen toy. It is a Nordic ware stove top smoker. It cam with two packs of chips, apple and hickory. So I created my first dinner with it. Smoked chicken drumsticks, using the apple smoke. Oh my gosh, a great smell filled the house within minutes. I have to run the exhaust fan while cooking. Only took about 40 minutes to cook. They tasted good too. I will be able to do chicken (including a whole one), steak, ribs, pork, fish and even some vegetables. So far so good.

I've sworn off buying any new kitchen stuff but that looks like a lot of fun to experiment with. Does the exhaust fan take enough smoke out to satisfy the smoke detector?

Looks nice, but I think it was designed to be used OUTDOORS; Like a Bar-b-que.

Helen, there was some smoke, when I first took lid off, but smoke detector behaved.

Falcon, this one is sold specifically as an indoor/outdoor. So, if you had a gas grill with a side burner, you could use it outside. But as long as exhaust fan is in use, it is OK for indoors. The picture is deceiving without perspective, it is about the size of a large sauce pan or dutch oven. I fit 6 chicken thighs in there comfortably, but probably no more than that many.

Good luck with your smoker. I love kitchen toys and through the years have had many. I'd take a kitchen gadget for a gift any day over a personal item.
