Given their stellar up-and-coming reputation and high prices, I thought they'd go to direct measurement.
They do directly measure Total C, HDL, and triglycerides, then divide triglycerides by 5 to estimate VLDL and the remainder is LDL.
E.g., TC is 160, HDL is 60, TriG. are 80/5= 16 VLDL. Remainder = 84 LDL. The med. community generally agreed that this formula is adequate for diagnostic purposes but I always wondered how IDL (intermediate density lipoproteins) figure in. Are they just ignored?
