My sewing machine

As I was sewing masks today, I started thinking about my sewing machine and what a workhorse it was. We bought that sucker at Sears in 1974, a year after we were married. I have sewn clothes for me, and for my daughter, and granddaughter, and hemmed pants and skirts. I've made Halloween costumes for 2 generations of little girls. I learned to take in Dave's pants and let them out again. I've mended and made craft projects. And now masks. That machine has almost no plastic parts, and it was made right here in the USA. It's never broken down. I think I've gotten my money's worth.

My daughter has mine & is presently using it to make masks for all the extended family. It’s very basic but I had it since early 80’s, never made clothes but tons of straight line stiff, pillows, curtains, decorative items. The arth & nerve damage in my hands is such that I can’t hold a needle any more. She had it cleaned & reconditioned & works great for basic stuff.

I bought a Singer at a yard sale for $40. Learned to use it. Nice to be able to hem pants without having to take them to a tailor. I also make shorts by cutting and hemming. I even put a new zipper in a jacket. Great accessory. I bought it to make curtains for my apartment when I moved.
