My ties from the 1970's

Very cool. I'd find a better place than Goodwill. They could end up in the bins. I've never been to a GW bin but have watched YouTube videos of people at them.

Hollywood might like them for a 70's movie. True vintage.

Ties were narrow in the 50’s. Then they became wide in the 60’s and 70’s before narrowing down again. On TV today, you rarely see a bloke even wearing a tie, and their clothes may not even match. Is this a sign of the apocalypse?! 🙀

Methinks that I’ll wear a bundle of lace at my throat. That way, I’ll be thought a dandy or a fop, or if lucky perhaps a swashbuckler or highwayman! 😉

A man is driving through the country one day and sees a bar. He decides to stop and have a beer or two.

As he walks in, the bartender stops him and says, "Sir, we have a dress code here. You must wear a tie.""

"A tie?", the man exclaims. "Why would I need a tie. This is just a bar."

"Sorry, sir," replies the bartender, "but we do have our requirements to enter. You must have a tie on."

The man goes back to his car. No tie. He checks the trunk, hoping he has a tie in there. No tie in the trunk. He does, however, spy a set of jumper cables. Hmmm, he thinks, maybe I can hang these around my neck and call them a tie. He REALLY wants a beer by now. He goes back in, wearing the jumper cables around his neck.

"Sir!" says the bartender, "I told you that you needed a tie!"

"Well, I DO have a tie on!"

"No, sir, those are jumper cables."

"Hey, they're hanging around my neck. They're tied in a knot. If I say they're a tie, then they're a tie!"

The bartender thinks for a moment. "OK, sir, I'll let you in this time. BUT DON'T START ANYTHING!"

Only had one tie in the 70's, a dark blue one that was standard issue for my Dress Blues.
Wore that uniform a couple of times, for formal retreats (inspections, to see if you still
owned the Dress Uniform...)

Worse Uniform in the history of the military, made you look like a 50's Bus Driver or New York Door Man!

Still have that tie somewhere in my bag, along with the 'clip-on' one I bought to take its place.

My wife is a quilter / sewer / crafter, and mentioned that one of her associates made some kind of quilted thing, maybe like a table runner, out of old ties. I have about a dozen ties I'd gladly donate.

I've made arrangements to be cremated, so hopefully I'll never have to wear a tie again!

I’m kind of wondering why you still have them? Do you think they may come back into style? I think it’s OK to drop them in a collection box.
