Mystery Object

This was in a box with a bunch of artists paintbrushes. It's just under 6 inches long, has a wooden center and metal rods on each end that have a small bulb on their ends, but one is slightly larger than the other. "EYECATCHER" is embossed in gold letters on the wooden part. Is is an art tool? Almost seems to me it would be something to do with sewing or knitting. Anyone have any ideas?

This is used in sculpting clay. I sculpt. I have several of these.

It's an art tool. When painting an eye there is a highlight added.
That's why the tool is called an eyecatcher. It's difficult to add a small round dot with a brush.
