That didn't happen, and if it did, it wasn't that bad, and if it was, it's not a big deal, and if it is, it's not my fault and if it was, I didn't mean it, and if I did, you made me do it.
My ex was a textbook narcissist, and after I recognized the fact I took a deep dive into the subject and thoroughly educated myself. I’ve also known, or know, several more,, and this is the most concise and accurate depiction of the narcissistic mindset I’ve ever read! I mean, just read the traits I covered below, and you’ll see how that mindset accurately encompasses all of them.
Defined by the DSM-5 as “a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration and lack of empathy,” a hallmark of narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) is their extreme sense of entitlement, self-importance, and uniqueness.
Narcissists also have a constant need for admiration, and because of their lack of empathy (even though some can be brilliant at faking it) they disregard others’ upsets at being exploited, which a narcissist is also really good at.
My ex told me “You won’t find anyone who’s better for you than me” and “I’m the best thing that’s ever happened to you.” He also told me I’d never be with anyone like him again….and he was right. I made damn sure if it.
