National Cheddar Day - February 13th

I bought some mature cheddar cheese on the way home from work today. Cheddar cheese originates from the village of Cheddar, Somerset, England. Or so I was always led to believe. The Cheddar villagers use to mature the cheese in the caves of Cheddar Gorge. The gorge being on the northern edge of Cheddar village

My parents took me to Cheddar Gorge & the village when I was about 12. As a child I kind of fell in love with the place.

Yes when my Daughter was little it was one of the places I paid for her to go on a School trip... I should have saved my money, she says she doesn't remember these school trips!

Anyway.. back to the topic in hand.. I am currently as I type this... eating a Cheddar cheese scone.. courtesy of Marks & Spencers..
