National Lucky Penny Day - May 23rd

We lived close to train tracks. We used to put pennies on the rail and squish them. Does that count as 'lucky'?

My grandma always said that seeing a penny and NOT picking it up was asking for bad luck.

If the penny is heads up, well, that's extra good luck.

We kids would never miss picking one up.....that was another gumball from the machine!

Canada did away with the one cent coin in the past few years. It was costing more to make each one, than it's face value. We simply round up or down the price of a retail cash sale, to the nearest 5 cent mark. Obviously debit or credit sales are to the exact actual price amount, no need to round up or down. Canadian pennies are not now accepted as payment. JImB.
