It all started with my Mother...one of her favorites..that became mine.
Every Sat...we'd walk up the block..and 'catch' the bus..
to 'go down-town'.
After the day's 'window'shopping and.. whatever else needed & bought...at the time..
We headed for the bakery-shop to buy macaroons for her..
And..my Dad's favorite pie... blueberry.
And.. that's how it began.
If you compare a macaron recipe with that of a macaroon, you might notice that their ingredients are actually pretty similar. Both cookies are made with egg whites, sugar, a few drops of vanilla and a pinch of salt.
However, macarons are typically made with finely ground blanched almonds, while macaroons are made with sweetened flaked coconut.
