National Moldy Cheese Day - October 9th

Yum yum - I have some smoked stilton here from the local smokehouse at Glasson Dock.

If it were not for mold, there would BE no cheese. Allowing it to mold is the process which gives it the flavor. I used to make my own cheddar when I had a milk cow. Thats much too good for a mouse.

There are so many nice mouldy cheeses, it's hard to choose my favourite. Many of these are made in small scale dairies and only sold in the local area. One I really like is 'Strathdon Blue', and another is 'Blue Murder' (made by Alex James, formally of the band 'Blur').

Anyone else had a cottage cheese sandwich? I like to add blue cheese crumbles and red pepper flakes to mine. Toast, tomato slices, some lettuce. They're great!
