National Oatmeal Cookie Day - April 30th

Mom made for us kids..always thinking 'healthy':) :)

Then... I made for mine.

My paternal grandmother made The. Best. Oatmeal. Cookies. They were the cake type and soft inside. I always made the same kind.

At work we make the flat kind, and they're a PITA to get off the parchment paper without breaking while being packaged. They taste good, but I don't like them. I'd rather have Grandma's.

your gran 's..sounds 👍 like my Mom's

I've always used the old original Quaker Oats recipe, but changed it up a little. I don't pack my brown sugar so I have softer cookie using the butter. For plain or with raisins, I add 1/2 tsp. cinnamon & 1/2 tsp. nutmeg.

My favorite way of making them now is with extra tsp. of vanilla, leave out the cinnamon & nutmeg & use dried cherries instead of the raisins.

Edit: FYI, the oatmeal cookie recipe on the website now isn't the original one from years ago. It has no butter, no cinnamon & they added water & use trans-fat veg shortening. We all know everything is better with butter!
