Natural Aroma Making

I can't use a lot of strong deodorizers in my place because I have birds and it can affect them very negatively. Looking for natural things to boil to make a fresh aroma. Have already thought of lemon and orange peels. I know lemon smells very fragrant. Going to buy some extra ones for making the place smell fragrant.

Can you think of any other Natural aromas to boil?

Cinnamon
nutmeg
apple slices
Those all together smell like apple pie.

Orange peels.

Check out this thread I posted back in the summer. I tried the one in the slow cooker. But for best results on that one, leave the lid of the cooker off or slanted, to let scent out better.

Essential oils in a mister or in hot water.

I’ve got one of those fragrance, misting devices

where you add essential oils to water to infuse into

the air and I use many different natural scents

including lemongrass, lavender, sandalwood,

wintergreen, peppermint, spearmint, orange etc.

There are some nice preblended essential oils that

are nice too.

When I was a kid we used to make these with an orange or a lemon and whole cloves. It's a mindless task that you can do while you are watching tlevison. If you have a thimble it will help to push the cloves into the piece of fruit and save wear and tear on your finger.

The ones above that are covered with cloves tend to keep indefinitely and sort of mummify themselves. You can also make these easier versions but they usually won't keep for very long. The pine branches also give off a nice scent, maybe you could take a walk in the park and selectively harvest a few.

I would love to use essential oils but they are a no no for birds. However I'm sure others could use that idea and thanks.

Thanks Bea, pretty pics too.

Oh right. You would have to be most careful about essential oils. Sorry about that Ruthanne.
My memories so bad I’d already forgotten about the bird part. 🤭
That's okay Keesha. I didn't know about scented candles when I used them and my one bird fluffed up real big. Thank goodness I realized it was from the scent. She was okay after I put the fan on and aired the place out.

Oh my. It’s something I should consider more in my diffuser while I’m mixing my scents (essential oils) so thanks for the reminder. 👍❤️
