When I was young always thought I'd join the navy when I got old enough. I think the Vietnam War stopped me, got a real high draft number and decided to stay out of any service. Sometimes I wish I had done it, a stent in the navy at that age would probably have done me good.

Looks like Friday the 13th falls on a Thursday this month.

I spent over 31 year in the Navy loved it, and will quietly celebrate today.

I made Chief in early 1969 until I was selected for Warrant Officer in mid 1970. I never served as an Ensign, but many years later, the Navy decided to send me a certificate as an Ensign. I am clueless as to what genius made the decision.

This is a photo of me as a 26-year-old Chief. Followed by me wearing the hat of a new Warrant Officer (W-1)

Finally, a photo of my last day in the Navy as a Commander (O-5).
