NCAA Gives Penn State/Joe Paterno 100 Plus Victories Back. Fanboy and girls win. Kids lose.

The NCAA gave Penn State and Joe Paterno over a hundred wins back that were taken away for poorly handling the Jerry Sandusky molestation scandal. Some are not happy including Kieth Olbermann. I agree with him.

It was about criminal child molestation, cover up and/or negligence and not an athletic legacy.

Don't get me wrong the NCAA has it's problems too but football is a game over emphasized by a rabid college student body and alumn living vicariously through a football team playing a sport. I understand what the NCAA was trying to accomplish and say. Since it was apparent by early this century there was "a problem" with Sandusky but got to retire early, collect a pension and still have campus privileges. The wins although on the field were the results of recruitment/recruits they probably never would've gotten their hands on if the program had been hit with the scandal in the late 1990s and/or early century. The school would've probably seen a drop in applicants for years suffering enrollment and revenue drops.

I wish the Penn State fan base and alumni were as fervent about other issues as they are a game. But college football in general is full of misplaced priorities and fan boys and girls living life vicariously through a game, sport and associated personalities. Just look at the some the recent scandals in Florida involving band hazing/deaths and a player who has been accused of rape and point shaving yet those players & programs are still idolized.

College football: a game. Not your life.

Good for Joe. He is deserving of this award.

With an asterisk.

A shakey & over zealous NCAA investigation and process tainted the penalties. Those living life vicariously through sports can rejoice.
