Need a new printer.

Back in Sept. 2013 I spent $33.12 OTD for a new Canon Pixma MG2220 inkjet printer at Walmart and it's finally quit working so it's time to toss it in the trash and get another printer of some type....I will say that the Canon made excellent copies but the ink cartridges cost darn more than the printer the one time I had to change them.

My usage; between printing something off the internet and using it as a copier I probably only make a dozen copies a year (most all are black and white) if that so it rarely gets used.

Based on my usage any recommendations on a particular brand and model to purchase (or stay away from) or just go to back to Walmart and purchase another el cheapo printer ?....if it matters I've got a Dell desktop / tower and run Windows 11.

They cost a bit more but I bought a networked laser printer (it can be connected by USB too), the cartridges and heads don't dry out and they are much cheaper per copy. If you buy generic cartridges the running cost in minimal.

That's the same Canon Pixma printer that I've had for years (only in red) and has recently packed up...

I have the problem that I need a new printer but I need it to be super easy to set up.. andd most reviews I've read say otherwise...I'm a techi dunce tbh...

Most of the printing I need doing is for address labels for online sales.... and so I bought this Bluetooth thermal printer a couple of months ago.....not used it yet...

Ha! My Pixma is even older. Probably bought it in the 2010 or earlier time span. It still works but my Macbook Pro no longer works with it. So, I'm in the same boat.

I've had zero issues with this machine, use it about the same as @IKE. I am looking at Pixmas again. Not crazy about the wireless part of any of them.

Don't buy another inkjet printer. The cartridges are expensive and they dry out from non-use.
I needed a printer, did some investigation, and bought a laser printer. You don't have to worry about the cartridges drying out because it uses heat to activate the powder toner, and it gets fused right into the paper, so no smudges. I have had it 6 months, and it's great.
Btw, the one I bought is a Brother DCP-L2640DW. Hope that helps.

A couple years ago I went to Staples in search of a new printer and the young salesman told me not to waste my money for what little printing I do.

Now when I need to make a few copies at income tax time I print them at Staples and pay by the copy.

You can print, scan or copy, email a file to their printer and print from it, etc…

I spend less than $5.00/year and don’t have to deal with dried up ink, paper jams, etc…
