Need Help/Information about Charging Sources

Didn't think this would turn into the dilemma that it is... I bought a flashlight on Amazon .. nice, big, bright flashlight, from China of course.
Expensive too.
It is rechargeable.. the end that goes into the flashlight is a USB connection ..OK, no problem
and the other end to charge it, is a 5.5mm round plug.
My car has a 5.5 plug, but it wouldn't fit into it when I tried ... Even if it did fit, that wouldn't be a good way for me to charge it on a regular basis.

I don't have a laptop.. I believe they have that plug connection.

Is it possible to buy a charging unit that plugs into the wall, and will allow recharging a 5.5mm plug that way?

I have no idea, and I was hoping someone would reply, so we could both learn about it.

My laptop does have a small round one, though it doesn't seem like it would be a good way to recharge anything. o_O
(That's the way I recharge the laptop itself.)

Plus, who knows if it's even the correct size or not.

I hope this post of mine, might bump up yours, to see if someone who knows more than us, might reply.:)
 
Interesting - all the ones I saw on Amazon had a micro USB to go into the flashlight, and a USB to go to a charger.

Typically, the 5.5mm round plug would plug into the flashlight. Are you sure the USB port on the flashlight isn't to plug in another device?

From what you describe. The flashlight has a usb port To solve your issue of charging look up.

usb male to male cable

That will give you the usb to your flashlight & usb to a fast charger.

Then look up

usb fast charger

Neither the cable or fast charger cost very much. Check your car it might have a usb port also.
 
My car has the round plug, but it's too small for the 5.5 flashlight charger plug.

I can't believe the problem with just trying to charge something! The Chinese are UNBELIEVABLE !!
The USB fits into the flashlight, and I'm stuck with trying to figure out what to do with the other end ....

No @Irwin ... the USB only fits into the flashlight.

Bonnie I looked up what you bought & this is the closest I could find to the picture.

As you can see that one has the male to male usb cable included. A usb fast charger isn't very expensive so maybe returning the one you bought & getting the one I saw would suit your needs more.

For free return the reason could be. Not as advertised, the 5.5 end doesn't fit any socket.

The feature of being able to use the flashlight to recharge a cell phone might need another cable that goes from usb to the socket.

Or maybe better yet would be to go to a Best Buy if there is one near you & ask a sales person to set you up with the cables you need.

I found your flashlight on Amazon. The 5.5mm input port is just above the USB output port on the back of the flashlight.
 
Gosh darn !!! ... I was just going to argue with you @Irwin .. (you know, typical female response ..šŸ˜)
You are so right! ... just did a double-take ... how did I miss that?!!?
So I can plug that barrel plug into the flashlight, and charge with the USB side ... anywhere! .. learn something new everyday

So glad that I asked for help.. Thanks again Irwin!!
