Need to Lose 40 Pounds.

...
Generally I eat really well. One problem I have is that my husband is now retired and he loves cooking and is quite good at it. It’s ‘not’ a complaint nor am I blaming him for my weight gain. Most of the problem is prescription related but part of it is not being able to say NO thank you.
If you want to be more accountable, ask hubby to not serve you, but serve yourself like at a smorgasbord. Give yourself what your ideal (weight loss) portion is. And give yourself at least 20 minutes for food to digest and for your appetite to be satisfied.

Remember that losing weight gain, in the beginning, is to first get used to portions and exercise where you no longer gain weight. Then cut down the food more, or more exercise if you can, to start losing the weight. Personally, I find changing from gaining to losing, in one big step, a bit hard to deal with.

In any case, one will most likely have to get 'used' to being hungry in the day, like we did when we were school kids. We ran around the place and got really hungry by lunch and dinner times.

Thank you for your suggestions.
I gained all this weight in one year after being put on medication by a psychiatrist. My general practitioner wants me off of them since they cause rapid weight gain and cause high blood sugar. Unfortunately I don’t know what medication I can go on. I’ve got a doctors appointment coming up soon and hopefully he can help me. I think the meds make me hungry.

I’m portioning my meals out now and not eating near the amount I was eating. For example: Tonight my husband made blackened haddock. I had one piece but he had three with about 3 servings of rice. I can’t eat as much as he does.

Im exercising most days ; averaging 5 days per week. Luckily I’ve stopped 2 of my medications which I think is really helping.
I look forward to swimming in the salt water pool in 2 months. They have senior swimming 3 times per week.
